Occasionally, you don’t need a business plan capturing the full business of a company, but only a business case focusing on a single business line or product line, or even a single service or solution. This is what people in industry usually call a ‘business case’ rather than a ‘business plan’.
The Excel template provided below will be useful to two categories of practitioners:
- service providers selling a subscription-based services to their customers and investigating the opportunity of launching a new solution / service
- suppliers to service providers who want to use a business case tool for sales support purposes, in a consultative selling approach, and capture the benefits of the hardware / solution that they sell to service providers, and show how the latter can monetise their investment.
The solution business case comes in two versions as well: the standard version and the advanced version that includes sensitivity analysis and scenario analysis (using Excel VBA macros). The advanced version of the template is part of the ‘Business Plan Advanced’ membership.
