A good business plan is 50% getting the hard issues right, and 50% getting the soft issues OK. And then deliver i.e. turn the plan into reality!

The hard issues:

  • market and competition analysis
  • product features, availability and costs
  • competitive edge of the product
  • quality forecast for market, revenues and costs (CapEx, OpEx)
  • financial statements (P&L, Cashflow, Balance sheet)
The soft issues:
  • marketing concept
  • team: execution skills, negotiation skills, perseverance, communication skills
  • make-or-buy issues
  • 3-year product roadmap
  • ‘B-plan’ in case the ‘A-plan’ does not work
