A good business plan is 50% getting the hard issues right, and 50% getting the soft issues OK. And then deliver i.e. turn the plan into reality!
The hard issues:
- market and competition analysis
- product features, availability and costs
- competitive edge of the product
- quality forecast for market, revenues and costs (CapEx, OpEx)
- financial statements (P&L, Cashflow, Balance sheet)
The soft issues:
- marketing concept
- team: execution skills, negotiation skills, perseverance, communication skills
- make-or-buy issues
- 3-year product roadmap
- ‘B-plan’ in case the ‘A-plan’ does not work
